The University of Lleida (UdL) ranks first in Spain in scientific excellence in Agriculture, according to a report by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The ICONO Analysis reads: Top Research Institutions Excellent for Knowledge Areas 2005-2014, a document on the position occupied by Spanish research institutions in the 27 major areas of knowledge of the Scopus database, based on criteria of scientific excellence. The University of Lleida (UdL) is the second most influential scientific institution in the world in Food Science and Technology, according to the study prepared by the Thomson Reuters company on the state of innovation for 2015 (The future is open 2015 State of Innovation), situating the UdL only below the University of British Columbia, in Canada.

The University of Lleida (ETSEA) ranks first in the I-UGR ranking of Spanish universities (edition 2013) for the area of Food Technology and third for Agriculture.
